THE EFFECTS OF TEACHING METHOD AND EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE TOWARDS STUDENTS' ENGLISH-SPEAKING SKILL
Abstract
This study aims to determine the effects of communicative approach and emotional intelligence on English students' speaking skill at state junior high school in Cirebon city Research hypothesis included: 1) there is effect of communicative approach on English students speaking skill, 2) there is effect of emotional intelligence on English students speaking skill, 3) there is interaction between communicative approach and emotional intelligence on students English speaking skill Method used in this research is experimental method. The population is all students and the sample of 60 students who obtained a random sampling technique that use cluster sampling. Instrument that used is result test of students speaking skill in the multiple choice with 20 items that is tasted validity and reliability coefficient 0.82, questionnaire 20 items of emotional intelligence that is tasted validity with reliability coefficient 0,72 Analysis of data uses analysis of variance (ANOVA) two ways. Result of the research show that there are effects of communicative approach and emotional intelligence towards English students' speaking skill. There is a significant effect of teaching method towards students English speaking skill at private junior high school in Cirebon Regency That is proved by sig 0,006 < 0,05 and F observed 8,007. There is a significant effect of emotional intelligence towards students' English-speaking skill at private junior high school in Cirebon Regency. That is proved by sig 0,000 < 0,05 and F observed 17,347. There are any significant interactive effects of teaching method and emotional intelligence towards students' English-speaking skill at private junior high school in Cirebon Regency. That is proved by sig 0,038 < 0,05 and F observed.
