Abstract

This research aims to analyze the moral messages in the film "Chibi Maruko-chan". By examining the narrative and characters, this study seeks to understand the moral values conveyed through the small stories in Maruko's daily life. Through a detailed analysis approach, the episode "Saving Pocket Money" will be explored to identify the embedded moral messages. This research will focus on concepts such as (1) curiosity, (2) compassion, (3) politeness and responsibility, (4) friendship, (5) self-control, (6) religious obedience, and (7) sincerity and honesty as conveyed through Maruko's interactions. The goal is to provide a deeper understanding of the moral values intended by the filmmakers. Additionally, this research aims to offer insights into how these moral messages influence the audience, particularly children, who are the main target of the film. Ultimately, this study hopes to contribute to our understanding of the role of moral messages in animated films and their impact on the development of values in young viewers.
